Yes and M stands for money! A while ago we had informed you in one of our columns regarding the authorities in Mumbai tearing up the simple homes of the actors of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. The reason given by the authorities was that the slums were unauthorized!
We now have the director of the multi academy award winning film coming to the rescue of the kids yet again! Danny Boyle who had opened a fund raising aid for the kids of the film is back in the city. The director has also promised child artist Azhar that he will be supplied with a new house before the onset of the monsoons. Azhar and his family had lost his house when the authorities cleared the shanties and is now living in a makeshift home. The young Latika’s character essayed by Rubina would also be re-housed. But it is a pity that so many of the Bollywood stars as well as the media who hailed the kids during their stardom and about their red carpet experience have ceased to comment about the children during their troubled times.
The Jai Ho trust that was jointly opened by Danny as well as Christian Colson, the producer of the film will raise funds for the children that will help them till they attain the age of 18. Resul Pookutty who won the academy for the best sound mixing too has come to the aid of the homeless children!
