Director Prawaal Raman is once again back with another thriller ‘Main Aur Charles‘. Prawaal once had been the assistant of Ram Gopal Verma. He is known for his suspense-thrillers like ‘Darna Mana Hai’, ‘Darna Zaroori Hai’ and ‘404′. This time he has come up with the incidents based on the life of 1980’s popular ‘Bikini Killer’ Charles Shobraj.
The entire story of the film revolves around the ‘Bikini Killer’ famed Charles (Randeep Hooda) who cheat the people and also kills the girls. He also deceives the Delhi Police and run away from one of the best jails of India i.e. ‘Tihaad Jail’ but caught at the end. In the whole process, sometime the game of police-thieve is on between Police Commissioner Amod Kant (Aadil Hussain) and Charles and sometime gorgeous Meera (Richa Chadda) is the part of his journey.
Prawaal mixed the real incidents with some hypothetical drama which maintains the correct flavor of a film. He made an average film after narrating the whole story from Amod Kant. The screenplay of the film is too loose and it would have been much better than this. The trailer gave the hint of some catchy dialogues and one liners but it failed to impress. The film is not as good as the concept. Also it is too slow. The only satisfying factor is the use of some fantastic locations of Thailand, Goa and Delhi.
Randeep Hooda, as expected the lone piller of the film and he brilliantly portrays his skills and perfectly suits the character of Charles. Specially the habit of mix up with the people is too good to watch. Aadil Hussain has also done his part honestly. The other actors including Richa Chadda and Tisca Chopra have not much to prove in these small roles.
All n all, the script is the main villain here in this film, that’s why because of these talented actors, ‘Mai Aur Charles’ doesn’t attract as it looks. Randeep Hooda’s fan would surely watch this film.
My rating to the film is 2.5 out of 5.
