In the year 1990, an action packed film ‘Ghayal‘ featuring Sunny Deol had come. The film was a blockbuster and Sunny become overnight action star of Bollywood. He also got National Award for his stupendous performance of Ajay Mehra in the film. Now Sunny has brought the sequel of ‘Ghayal’ as ‘Ghayal Once Again‘ after 25 years. This time he himself direct, written and produce the film. Will Sunny again receive the same madness like he got in the previous installment of the film? Let’s see the review of the film.

‘Ghayal Once Again’

The story of ‘Ghayal Once Again’ starts with a powerful businessman Raj Bansal and Ajay Mehra (Sunny Deol), who owns a media, channel ‘Satyakam’. Raj Bansal misuses his powers and wants to undermine the voice of youth. Ajay Mehra is here plays a survivor and tries hard to bring the truth in front of everyone to save the children. Om Puri and Soha Ali Khan as Rhea and ACP Joe D’Souza respectively have a very vital role in the film. The young children’s roles are played by debutant youngsters Rishab Arora, Shivam Patil, Anushka Munjaal and Dayna Khan. Whether Ajay Mehra will finish the bad anti-social elements of the society or not? You will know this after watching the movie.

‘Ghayal Once Again’ comprises an ordinary story which Indian audience has been watching for the past few decades. The film also have the flashback of ‘Ghayal’ that is here to reconnect the audience with the past but it clearly lacks a good script. Although, the film has some breathtaking action-sequences picturized on Sunny but the old magic of him is completely missing. Not a single promising dialogue in the film which attract the audience.

About the performances, Sunny Deol returns as Ajay Mehra tries to bring the same magic what he did in ‘Ghayal’ and somehow he honestly played his part but the lose script doesn’t allow him to show what he could actually do. However, his action sequences will surely reminds you the old Sunny Deol but overall he fails to deliver. Soha Ali Khan, Om Puri and Tisca Chopra have impressed in their small but important roles whereas the younger crop of actors have given their best.

As I said earlier, here, story is the main villain. This is the new age generation which wants something innovative and out of the box kinds of films but ‘Ghayal Once Again’ has old proven plot which escaped in the presence of action. It could have been better than this. Music is not good as expected.

The last words about ‘Ghayal Once Again’ are that the film is not as good what you are expecting from a Sunny Deol starrer. If you are going to the theatres having ‘Ghayal’ in minds, you will surely disappoint but for Sunny’s fan, this could be once time watch.

My rating to the film is 2.5 out of 5 stars.
