According to Bollywood Shaadi, Disha Vakani spoke about her first salary of Rs 250 from a theatre play. She recalled handing it to her father, Bhim Vakani, who is a popular Gujarati theatre personality. The actress said, “I was paid Rs 250 for my first drama. I remember that I handed over the money to my father. He had tears in his eyes; that moment will always be closer to my heart. As an artist, work satisfaction is more important than monetary satisfaction.”
Disha Vakani has had quite a rollercoaster ride of a journey after that, as from Rs 250, she was upgraded to a remuneration of 1.25 lakhs per episode when she started playing Daya Ben in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. It was reportedly a 49900% hike from her Rs 250 salary from the theatre play. She was also the third-highest-paid cast member of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah after Dilip Joshi and Shailesh Lodha.

Disha tied the knot with businessman Mayur Padia in November 2015, and the couple welcomed their baby girl in 2017.
