A few months back, Vikas Bahl and Kangana Ranaut hinted at a possible collaboration with the sequel of their blockbuster film Queen, and now Queen 2 is finally happening. The filmmaker has confirmed that he is done with the script of the sequel, and fans cannot contain their excitement ever since the news has dropped in.

However, it seems like Kangana Ranaut will have a huge target if she collaborates on the sequel, and beating the numbers of the first film will be a task almost next to impossible. Also, consider the fact that the film dropped at a time when the actress was climbing the ladder of success.

Now, 10 years later, a lot has changed – right from Kangana‘s persona to her image and right from the genre of films working at the box office. We know that it is an age-old debate that good content always sells, but the saying is a major exception when it comes to Hindi Films and their box office numbers in particular.

Queen Box Office Collection

Queen was released in March 2014. The film opened at 1.75 crore at the box office and went on to collect 9.55 crore on its first weekend. The film received terrific word of mouth, and it collected 18.30 crore in its first week. Helmed by Vikas Bahl and produced by Phantom Films, it registered a lifetime collection of 61 crore.

Kangana Ranaut’s Triple Clash

The film was released on March 7, 2014, and faced a triple clash. While Yami Gautam and Ali Fazal’s Total Siyapaa was also released on the same date, Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla’s Gulaab Gang also faced this clash. Total Siyapaa opened at 1.05 crore and collected only 6 crore in its lifetime.

However, Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla’s film opened at 2.30 crore, much better than Queen but tanked with a lifetime collection 14.30 crore.

Queen’s Humongous Profit

Kangana Ranaut’s film turned out to be the most profitable film of 2014, surpassing the profit of Aamir Khan’s PK and destroying Salman Khan’s Kick numbers. Queen registered a profit of 454% at the box office, surpassing PK, which earned a profit of 300%. Meanwhile, Salman Khan’s Kick that year registered a 103% profit, and Akshay Kumar‘s Holiday earned a 101% profit.

Big Targets With Queen 2

Kangana Ranaut has had a dry spell at the box office with the past few releases. Queen 2 is a major opportunity for the actress to bounce back. Vikas Bahl is confident with the sequel of the film, and in an exclusive conversation with News 18, the filmmaker said, “If I didn’t feel the pressure of matching up to the expectations that people have from the sequel, I would have already made it four years back just for money.”

Hope, Queen 2 will restore Kangana Ranaut‘s glory at the box office and give the audiences another heart-touching film to cherish.
