Founded in 1976, Dharma produced several commercially and critically successful films, with Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha starrer “Dostana” being the first.

The turning point for the production house was Karan’s first directorial venture, “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”, followed by “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…” and “Kal Ho Naa Ho” that marked the successful debut of filmmaker Nikhil Advani, who praised Karan for taking the legacy forward and congratulated him.

Bollywood’s young brigade, including Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra, who had a glamourous launch with Dharma’s “Student of the Year”, also took to the micro-blogging site to mark the occasion.

Last seen in “Brothers” made under Dharma, actor Sidharth thanked the banner for giving him the the star like life.

They are also working on Shakun Batra’s family film “Kapoor & Sons” and Karan Johar’s directorial venture, “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil”.
The company has confirmed producing Ayan Mukerji’s currently untitled superhero film, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt and Gauri Shinde’s project with Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt in lead roles.
