The 17th Jio Mami Mumbai Film Festival is starting from 29 October. In this more than 150 movies from all across the world will be shown. In this short films, popular feature films and documentaries will be included.
The trophy designed by jewelry designer Nirav Modi for the event has been launched on Wednesday. According to film maker Dibakar Banerjee, in Jio Mami the audience will get to see 31 Indian movies , which are never shown before. India will represent its 13 movies for the gold award. In the Indian story category, 15 fiction feature movies and 5 documentaries are there. In this festival for the first time “After Dark” named a category has also been included, under which horror and science based movies will be shown.
In this film festival, along with adults the need of children are also taken care of. In this regard the category of children is also being started, which has been titled as “Half Ticket”. This will include fiction, animation documentary and short films form different parts of the world for the children. Also there will be nominations for these movies also. Also the children will get a chance to learn film making from popular directors and writers.
During the festival two awards will be given for best performance, in which one will be given to an Indian celebrity and the other which is at an International level. In the International category, film producer of Israel, Amos Gitai and Indian origin writer Javed Akhtar will be given the awards.
This year, tribute will be given to director of France Agnes Varda, who has got the most popular award “Palma De Oro De” at the Cannes Film Festival.
