Medical drama series “Grey’s Anatomy” has emerged as the most buzzed TV show on micro-blogging Twitter.

According to Twitter, which looked at tweets from June 1 to September 14, 21 million tweets have been logged about fall TV debuts (up by 34 percent from last year) with 90 per cent of that conversation revolving around returning shows, reported the Los Angeles Times.

The most buzzed about fall TV show was Shonda Rhimes’ “Grey’s Anatomy,” which racked in 2.2 million tweets in its 11th season, likely the result of Dr McDreamy’s (Patrick Dempsey) abrupt departure from the show.

The show ranked 6th last year.

“Grey’s Anatomy” was followed by “Supernatural” (2 million), “The Walking Dead” (1.9 million), “The Vampire Diaries” (1.6 million), and “Once Upon a Time” (1.1 million).

Rhimes’ other ABC hit “How to Get Away With Murder,” which is returning for its second season, surged 276 percent in buzz from last year.

The drama followed “The Flash” and “Jane the Virgin” in the top three list of shows that have had the highest year over year growth in conversation.

New shows that have garnered the most excitement from Twitter users include “American Horror Story: Hotel”, “Scream Queens”, “The Late Show”, “Heroes Reborn” and “Supergirl.”
