Gulshan Grover, the “Badman” of Bollywood, says the upcoming Indo-Canadian gangster movie “Beeba Boys” focuses on the fascination with “crime and guns” in the youth.
The 59-year-old actor, who plays the mafia in the Deepa Mehta-directed film, said the movie draws it’s inspiration from real life characters and events.
“‘Beeba Boys’ is based on real life people and incidents. I don’t know if the filmmaker will accept, but my character is based on a real person- a Sardarji who was the mafia head. It shows how the Indo-Canadian boys were fascinated with crime and guns,” Gulshan told PTI.

Also starring Randeep Hooda, Waris Ahluwalia and Ali Momen, “Beeba Boys” will be the closing Gala Presentation at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival.
Gulshan will also be seen in the upcoming Australian film “UnIndian”, which marks the debut of Australian cricket star Brett Lee.
“I am also doing ‘UnIndian’ which marks Brett Lee’s debut as an actor. My role in the film is very different and interesting,” he said.
The actor is also a part of Nila Madhab Panda’s “Kaun Kitney Paani Mein”. He said water scarcity may be the backdrop of the story, but the film is a thorough entertainer.
“People have this perception that the film is based on some big social issue. In my view, it is a very entertaining film which unfolds in a very interesting manner. It has some brilliant performances and a flavour of unusual music. The movie is not at all preachy,” he said.
The actor is all praise for the director of the film, with whom he had worked in “I Am Kalam,” and called him the front runner of the cinema that is entertaining but has a social message.
“The pioneer of cinema with social relevance is Madhab. He has that sense of writing an entertaining story around a social issue,” he said.
“Kaun Kitney Paani Mein,” stars Saurabh Shukla, Kunal Kapoor and Radhika Apte in pivotal roles besides him. It releases today.
