It’s the show of women power at box office on Friday (October 9) as two female centric movies hit the theatres – Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s ‘Jazbaa’ and southern actress Anushka Shetty’s ‘Rudramadevi’.

Former beauty queen Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is making a comeback to the silver screen after almost five years and hence, ‘Jazbaa’, directed by Sanjay Gupta, is expected to open well.

Touted as an action thriller, the film’s credibility increases further by the presence of National Award winning actor Irrfan Khan. Aishwarya’s intense role of an advocate who has to find her kidnapped daughter will see the actress doing some high-octane stunts. Irrfan plays the role of a suspended cop who helps the determined mother in her cause.

Last seen in ‘Guzaarish’ opposite Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya looks fresh and all raring to go. It would, however, be interesting to see how Aishwarya and Irrfan’s chemistry turns out in the movie.

‘Jazbaa’ has been promoted well, if not extensively and thereby, might register a 50-60% occupancy in theatres. Word of mouth will play a major role in the movie’s success.

Southern actress Anushka Shetty plays the role of a fiery descendant of the Kakatiya dynasty, set in the 12th century in ‘Rudramadevi’. With the folklore of ‘Baahubali’ attaining a legendary status at the Box Office and Vijay starrer ‘Puli’ failing to impress the audiences and critics, hopes are high with this epic movie.

Also featuring Allu Arjun, Rana Daggubati, Vikramjeet Virk, Prakash Raj, Krishnam Raju, Nithya Menen, Baba Sehgal and Catherine Tresa, ‘Rudramadevi’ has been made on a budget of Rs 70-80 crore and can be expected to take all by surprise as ‘Baahubali’ did.

The third release of the weekend is Hugh Jackman starrer ‘Pan’. While Matt Damon’s ‘The Martian’ does look like that it won’t be losing its fuel soon at the Box Office, ‘Pan’ is speculated to open well.

The live-action 3D feature is aimed at children and imagines the beginnings of Peter Pan’s story – how he got to Neverland and learned to fly. The film shows Peter Pan living in a London orphanage, abandoned by his mother at the outbreak of World War Two.

This version of the well-told story focuses on the burgeoning friendship between Peter Pan (Levi Miller), kidnapped from a London boys home by pirates, and Hook (Garret Hedlund), his adventurous Indiana Jones-eque rescuer and friend. Hugh Jackman plays wicked pirate Blackbeard.
