Amid the serious business of fashion, comedian-actor Vir Das provided a comic relief at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week with his debut T-shirt and boxers heavy line.
The 36-year-old “Delhi Belly” star got support from as many as 15 Bollywood celebrities, who displayed their wacky style on the ramp at his show on the day three of the fashion extravaganza.
The “Weirdass Pret-A-Funny” collection was an amusing attempt at an Anti-Fashion show that Vir subtly displayed in the form of quirky slogans on the garments like “Aap Qatar Mein Hain”, and “Tujhe Mirchi Lagi to Main Kya Karu”.
“The reason we did this because is because I really like t-shirts and they speaks volume about who you are. It is like an advertisement to your personality. Not many people wear boxers. That’s why I launched this line. I didn’t think we would get invited. But I am glad we did,” Vir said.

“We also had messages of homosexual causes, in an effort to scrap article 377 – something we all as progressive open-minded people feel strongly about.”
The comedy express started with backstage commentary by stand-up comedienne Aditi Mittal and comedian Ashwin Mushran.
The show started with live rap and two models with strategically placed cardboard boxes followed by “weirdass angels” in their weirdass boxers.
The stand-up artist made sure that high comedy met the high fashion standards. To showcase this, his funny comrades from Bollywood walked on the ramp to hip hop music.
Kunal Roy Kapoor took the lead, followed by Sophie Choudry, Ali Fazal, Deeksha Seth, Miss Malini, Kunal Kamra, Che Kurrien, Kavi Shastri, Benny Dayal, Cyrus Sahukar, Shazahn Padamsee, Taapsee Pannu, Meiyang Chang, and Neil Bhoopalam, all sporting wildly designed Tees with fun slogans.
Gorgeous Aditi Rao Hydari glided in wearing a cropped black graphic Tee with cargo pants.
Benny Dayal’s music kept the tempo of the show upbeat.
“My t-shirts and boxers will be available online. The price range starts from Rs 599 and goes up to Rs 899. It is not a cheap quality t-shirt. You can wear it to a club,” Vir said.
There was also a section dedicated to Bollywood star Govinda. “I am a huge Govinda fan. I think he is the greatest comic actor in India. So if you like Guns and Roses or Metallica you wear their t-shirts. So, to me if you are a Govinda fan you should wear a t-shirt that says his name.”
Vir wants to venture into designing briefs, sneaker, ties, bow ties, sunglasses.
