While Day 1 of Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015 started off with a bang, we’re already at day 4 and it hasn’t slowed down one bit. In fact, it’s only getting better and I’m lusting for a lot of designer-wear. This festive, winter season is going to look like a story from a far away land as all of us start celebrating and wearing the best this season has to offer. Here’s a recap of yesterday’s happenings.

One of the team favorites, Kallol Datta gave us patriotic feels with his loose draping and comforting fabrics done in green and white. His collection was called 1955 and it truly reminded us of an ideal world. Nachiket Barve presented ‘Chiaroscuro’ with a goth vibe and graphics to-die-for. Rishta by Arjun Saluja brought back his true essence of structure and drapes. Ujjawal Dubey also brought his signature flowing pants and tunics with patent leather paneling and neutral prints, if there were prints at all. Narendra Kumar payed tribute to Monaco and its luxury with his latest ethnic collection inspired by a little bit of the west. Urvashi Joneja brought back electro pop with her vibrant collection, while Evelyn Sharma stunned viewers as she walked the ramp for Vasundhara Mantri‘s geometric, statement jewelry. Stephany D’Souza gave luxury a simplistic interpretation, while Namrata Joshipura went OTT with her Lakmé Instalight (highlighter/illuminator) inspired collection. In fact, the face of Lakmé, Shraddha Kapoor, was her showstopper.

Armaan Aiman were one of my favorites, well-though out silhouettes, like dhoti pants, paired with kaleidoscopic threadwork. In fact, Athiya Shetty decided to don a piece from their collection a day before the showcase. AM:PM by Ankur and Priyanka Modi‘s latest collection was a big hit too. It was a monochrome collection with inspiration from Islamic crafts and architecture. They broke the monotony of monochrome with a bang and the 5 finale pieces had a shot of red. Other noteworthy designers were Amalraj Sengupta with his modern, ready-to-wear designs and Khem by Prem Kumar used techniques ranging from appliqué to thread-work.

Finally, for some comic relief, Vir Das‘s Pret-A-Funny show saw a host of celebrities walking the ramp in his t-shirts and shorts with hilarious messages, like ‘Winter Never Comes’. There was pumping music, release of tension, and a break from all the seriousness. In fact, MissMalini walked the ramp for Vir, as well. Take a look.
