No prizes for guessing why Salman Khan didn’t make it to Karan Johar‘s 37th birthday bash on Monday night at the Four Seasons hotel! You see, Karan’s good friend Shah Rukh Khan and Salman are not on talking terms. So perhaps Karan wanted to avoid a ‘scene’.
Salman’s brothers Sohail and Arbaaz, along with their wives Seema and Malaika turned up. Malaika was also accompanied by sister Amrita and her husband Shakeel. We hear Sallu’s girlfriend Katrina Kaif was also invited, but she couldn’t make it because she was still in South Africa and only landed in Mumbai late last night. We don’t know if she was in town whether she would have attended the party, or would have decided to shun it to prove her loyalty to her boyfriend. We messaged Karan to ask him if he had not invited Salman, but he chose not to reply.
The 100 odd guests also included KJo’s good pal Gauri Khan, Saif Ali Khan with Kareena Kapoor, Hrithik and Sussanne Roshan, Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor accompanied by Raveena Tandon, Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukherji, Twinkle Khanna, Farah Khan, Farhan Akhtar, amongst others. Not only the Bollywood brigade, but also society divas like Parmeshwar Godrej and Tina Ambani were seen grooving to music at the party that went on till the wee hours of the morning.
However, although his wife was there, Akshay Kumar was conspicuous by his absence…was this because of his reported rivalry with SRK, or was it simply inconvenient since Akki’s currently shooting in Karjat? Any guesses, anyone?
For those of you who are still doubtful if Ash and Shah Rukh Khan have resolved their differences, here’s a bit of news: Abhishek and SRK were seen holding a long, intimate conversation while Ash stayed by Abhi’s side, hanging on to every word being uttered by them.
According to sources, Karan’s other favourites Amitabh Bachchan and wife Jaya were not invited as it was mostly a youngsters’ party.
