If you’ve seen Neil Nitin Mukesh driving himself around instead of a chauffeur, that’s because he is practising driving his luxurious SUV, the high-end Audi Q7, smoothly. The Audi, a lava-grey colour, is an S-line sports model.
But it’ll take some time before Neil Mukesh gets to drive the car. Even though he has paid for the car and it is officially his, it is still decorating the display of the showroom. Actor Neil Mukesh explains, “The front of our building is under renovation and there’s hardly any space to park the new car. I’d rather be impatient and fret about it than deal with the trauma of the Audi getting scratched and bearing marks.”
Neil’s father, singer Nitin Mukesh, always dreamt of owning a super-luxury car. So now that the movie New York has clicked at the boxoffice, Neil Mukesh has decided that he can flaunt his success a bit without being labeled a spoilt south Mumbai brat. An emotional Neil Mukesh recalls, “I still remember the first car, a Maruti Zen, that my dad gifted me. Now it’s my turn to fulfill his dream. I could’ve afforded an Audi earlier, but it is only now that I truly deserve it.”
When Neil Mukesh will finally get to drive his Audi depends entirely on how quickly the renovation work in his building winds up. Meanwhile, a possessed Neil Mukesh goes to the showroom everyday to gaze at his prized possession. And as if to compensate for the wait, Neil’s other dreams are coming true too. His Abbas Mustan film, which was shelved due to recession, has been revived. Also, he’s finally doing a love story. Neil says, “It’s a Ken Ghosh film and finally, I’m doing the kind of film that debutants dream of at the beginning of their career.”
