Bajrangi Bhaijaan has entered its seventh week. While last week brought in further 1.56 crore, the current collections stand at 319.62 crore. The film will collect around 1 crore more from this point on, and hence conclude its lifetime run over the 320 crore mark after being in theaters for 50 days. With an All time Blockbuster status behind it, the Salman Khan starrer now stands as the second highest grosser ever, what with Aamir Khan’s PK netting 338 crore.
Success of this Kabir Khan film is all the more commendable since it had to battle challenge from Bahubali, Drishyam and Brothers in the interim period, even if one discounts a dozen off low grossers that released in the interim period.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan Movie Still
For Salman Khan, it is clearly his most respected performance in the recent times as ever since Dabangg, he was being accused of repeating himself. That too was an opinion of select critics and segment of audience though since by and large, junta-janardan has given him lots of love and support in his last eight 100 crore films so far (Dabangg, Ready, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger, Dabangg 2, Jai Ho, Kick, Bajrangi Bhaijaan).
Salman Khan is clearly enjoying the kind of run that Rajesh Khanna had in the early 70s and then Amitabh Bachchan did in the second half of the 70s and first half of the 80s. With Prem Ratan Dhan Payo as his Diwali release and Sultan as his next Eid release, Salman Khan is now set to make it 10 in a row!
