Unlike Kya Kool Hain Hum 3, Mastizaade didn’t crash over the weekend. The film hung on well when compared to a decent opening day, and in the process brought in around 18 crore* more. The film has been unanimously panned by the critics and while Sunny Leone has ensured that a specific set of audience walks in, all eyes are on how the weekdays perform. The film needs to be ultra-steady in days to follow since it practically has a week to perform, before the biggie Ghayal Once Again strikes on Friday.
Box Office – Mastizaade has a decent weekend, Saala Khadoos hopes for good weekdays
Saala Khadoos opened to such low numbers on Friday that it was disheartening, to say the least. Though there was good awareness created around the Madhavan starrer, somehow that didn’t translate into numbers. The need of the hour was for the film to show good jumps over the weekend, something on the lines of Queen. The Kangana Ranaut starrer too had a poor opening day of 1.75 crore, but then its weekend had soared to 10 crore. However Saala Khadoos, which had opened at 1.28 crore* [Hindi version] didn’t really see such escalation and closed the weekend around 5.25 crore*. This had to be bigger.
With competition from Airlift as well which is continuing to do well in the second week, both Mastizaade as well as Saala Khadoos have a task cut out to fetch audience attention and bring on moolah.
