Her dancing skills remain unrivalled, as yet. Helen’s dance numbers were a mandatory feature in soaring the stock of a movie. With her deft moves and nimble steps, Helen took many a yesteryear film to greater success.
Helen hung up her dancing shoes and disappeared from the silver screen for a number of years before making a comeback as the prim and proper matron in ‘Mohabbatein’ and as Salman Khan’s mother in ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’. Some of the famous numbers that she danced to include, ‘oyee maa, oyee maa yeh kya ho gaya’ from ‘Parasmani’, ‘o haseena zulfowali’ from ‘Teesri Manzil’, ‘aa jaane jaan’ from ‘Inteqam’, ‘piya tu ab to aaja’ from ‘Caravan’, ‘mehbooba mehbooba’ from ‘Sholay’, ‘mungda main gud ki dali’ from ‘Inkaar’ and ‘yeh mera dil, pyar ka deewana’ from ‘Don’. The actress, who rings in her 71st birthday on October 21, 2010, was also honoured with the Padma Shri last year.
Here’s wishing Helen more years of professional and personal success. And truly hope she still remains in step… with success
