In short, ‘Tamasha’s first song ‘Matargashti’ can be put together as a sweet reminder of how nice and wonderful the ex-lovers Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone look with each other. We expected more, though.
If there’s one director for who A R Rahman can, time and again, give minty fresh tunes, it’s Imtiaz Ali. The music maestro is back with his intriguing and yet peppy music. ‘Tamasha’s first song named ‘Matargashti’ talks of great music, excellent vocals, beautiful locales and a palpable chemistry between the lead stars.
Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor share a scorching chemistry, which oozes out of every frame of the song. ‘Matargashti’ is quirky, peppy, foot tapping and you surely can’t chicken out of the ‘chicken dance’ when you have the beautiful pair doing the honours themselves.
If the wanderlust that ‘Tamasha’s trailer rendered you with wasn’t enough, there is this song which journeys through Corsica and shows Deepika and Ranbir doing all kinds of antics. The best part is Ranbir mimicking yesteryear legendary actor Dev Anand and is quite a pro at it.

Mohit Chauhan’s voice enhances the beauty of the song. It also takes us back to the songs of Imtiaz – Ranbir’s earlier outing at the Box Office ‘Rockstar’ and especially the song ‘Hawaa Hawaa’. There is, indeed, an uncanny similarity.
