Director: Nikhil Advani
Starcast: Imran Khan, Kangana Ranaut
Duration: 138 minutes
Rating: 2 star
Nikhil Advani is again back as Director. Last week, he had launched two new star kids, including Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty and within one week he brings a new love story ‘Katti Batti‘ starring National award winning actress Kangana Ranaut and Imran Khan.
Imran is playing the role of an Architect named Maddy whereas Kangana’s character name is Payal. Maddy and Payal loved each other and decided to start live- in relationship. They lived happily for five years before a sudden twist came in the story and Payal left Maddy. In between the Maddy’s friend Vinay, sister Koyal and his other friends supports him to precede the story. The entire story revolves around Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmadabad. Now will Payal come back in Maddy’s life? This you will know after watching the film.
The biggest weak link of the film is its script. The story is too weak and old. Sometimes it reminds you ‘Anand’ and sometimes ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’. The expressions of the characters are not matching with their dialogues. The film is filled with over emotion which will disappoint you. Flashback used in the film is also not too convincing. The good moments come in pieces and only first half is somehow better but the real disappointment is its second half when the film becomes too slow and boring. It will test the patience of the people.
About the performances, if you want to watch this film for Kangana Ranaut, it will disappoint you. She had recently done two big films including ‘Queen’ and ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns‘ in which her acting gone to another level but in this film she doesn’t do justice with her character. There was hardly any effect on her career if she ignores this film. Imran has also done so so work. His expressionless acting is again repeated in this film. He can learn a lot from his uncle Aamir Khan who takes enough time to portray his character on screen.
It doesn’t seem that the director of ‘Katti Batti’ is same who gave some rock solid films like ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ and ‘D-Day’. He has to seriously review his abilities to direct a film as he lacks the basic requirements to present a better film.
At last, I must say that you can only watch this film if you are a big fan of Kangana and Imran, otherwise, do not waste your money in this type of weak film and wait for week or two as Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Singh is Bling‘ is about to come on 2nd of October.
My rating for this film is 2 out of 5 star.
