Akshay Kumar recently risked his life by jumping off a cliff at a height of 150-160 feet (which is about 20 storeys of a high rise) into a freezing water body on a day that recorded a temperature of around -20 degree centigrade for his forthcoming film 8X10 Tasveer. The actor risks his life once more in a deadly stunt for Nagesh Kukunoor’s movie.
Akki plays a character ofIndian originwho becomes a forest ranger in Canada in the Nagesh Kukunoor movie, an action thriller which also has Ayesha Takia, Vinod Khanna and Sharmila Tagore.
Nagesh says: “Akshay is unbelievably daring. He told us that he will do only one shot as the conditions where we were shooting were extreme. It was freezing in South Africa and we had to shoot a scene that had Akshay run fast towards the edge of a cliff and take a jump into a water body. Due to the chilly weather conditions, the water was freezing too.”
He adds: “It was a high difficulty level scene and generally stunt men do such shots but Akshay wanted to do it. The scene needed to look real and Akshay after consulting with the action director Shyam Kaushal just went for it. From 150 feet it was an extremely high risk venture but believe me Akshay did it in one shot. I have never seen a man so composed while doing such a breathtakingly difficult and risky shot. He knew what he was doing, gave the perfect expressions, landed exactly where he had to and the shot has become one of the best things in the film. It will be a talking point.”
Shailendra Singh, head honcho of Percept Picture Company, the producers of the film adds: “Akshay doing action is so up his alley that he makes the most difficult shots look so easy. Akshay returns to action in a big way with this film and his doing his own stunts has given the film that edgy feel.”
